Well well well, here's the latest piece of cinematography from my good homie Davy Greenberg and the talented Mr. Mike Golden. Very very VERY solid visual for a dope song, and if you haven't checked out Mike's Trees EP (1+2) you should do that now.
Today marks the birthday of my good homie Naledge of Kidz In The Hall, and to commemorate this period of life he calls "Twentysomething", he's dropped a new mix tape laden with ill joints from the likes of Freddie Gibbs, Skyzoo, GLC, Murs, Mikkey Halsted, Willie The Kid, Vandalyzm, Phil Adé, Shawn Chrystopher, Big Pooh, VerBS, Marsha Ambrosious, Fly Union, and myself. The project is stellar and a dope listen from end to end, and I'm not just saying that because I'm on three of the tracks! But you ARE gonna listen to the stream above of "Be A Man" with me and Phil Adé featured, and then you'll download the tape and hit the jump for a special message from Naledge himself, capiche?
One of the hardest things in the world to do is to convince a bigoted individual that they're wrong. People tend to latch onto these ideals so vehemently that they're willing to endanger themselves and those around them to prove whatever point they feel is just. CNN's Anderson Cooper, who is usually a level-headed reporter as any avid CNN viewer will attest to, almost loses his shit when talking to this imbecile. As an American Muslim myself, I cringe at the thought that this guy and his mindless followers will actually go through with this mass burning of the Holy Qu'ran, not only for the ridiculous pretense it's being done under (to fight back against radical Islam? Really? Don't you understand you'll be converting more traditional Muslims AGAINST America? Not just YOU?), but also for the example it sets for the children who are being raised in this post-9/11 American democracy. Pastor Terry Jones even pushes aside the accurate statements from Gen. Petraeus about how the proposed act will put the remaining troops in the Middle East in extreme danger. I would love to pin this all on Pastor Stupid over there, but then again, the media has given this story an extra push by even covering it! When will the press stand up and decree that insane acts of bigotry like the ones Terry Jones promotes deserve no national spotlight, no line on the ticker tape? As another preacher & founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth, once decreed, "It is against stupidity in every shape and form that we have to wage our eternal battle. But how can we wonder at the want of sense on the part of those who have had no advantages, when we see such plentiful absence of that commodity on the part of those who have had all the advantages?"
No relation. This is verrry verrry dope though. An allegorical short film/music video for Shabazz Palaces shot in Watts, Los Angeles, directed by Kahlil Joseph, Photographed by Matt Lloyd. Featuring a cameo of Dante (Ernest Wadell) from "The Wire" in homage to Charles Burnett's 1977 classic film "Killer of Sheep". Shouts to Gonjasufi for the heads up.
